Mid-week iOS releases: Let's Golf! 3, Exitium: Saviors of Vardonia, Julius Styles: The International, Pickpawcket, Defender of the Crown, and more

It's been seven days since the likes of Cut the Rope: Experiments and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions hit the App Store, meaning we have a brand new mid-week releases round-up for you.

As always, we bring you this round-up because we're too busy playing Ocarina of Time 3D, visiting Chester Zoo, and avoiding mass looting to write a story for every new game out.

This Wednesday, we have some new Chillingo releases (again); an appearance from the vampire-killing Wesley Snipes; football, rugby, and golf offerings; and an excellent-looking RPG.

The streets aren't the safest place to be at the moment, so Pocket Gamer recommends that you stay at home, download a few of these titles, and play until your thumbs hurt.

Zen Wars

Liv Games's Zen Wars is a 'fast-paced strategy-puzzle defence game' that tasks you with building a base, placing cannons, and destroying Lord Evilz's army.

If you hope to survive, you'll have to face off against angry huns, crazy warriors, and giant war pandas.

You can also bring two or three friends along for the ride.

Chillingo's NyxQuest follows an enigmatic winged girl from heaven, who is searching for her missing friend Icarus.

In order to find him, you'll have to soar over Greek ruins, avoid dangerous harpies and hydras, and solve 'clever' puzzles.

Everybody loves scoring a Stevie G-esque free kick, and Full Fat's Flick Soccer allows you to do just that.

There are five game modes on hand: Quickshot, Endurance, Challenge, Smash It!, and Crossbar. Oh, and Game Center leaderboards and achievements, too.

Chillingo's Anomaly Warzone Earth is a tower defence title with a twist.

Playing as the attacker rather than the defender, your job is to successfully navigate your squad of fighters through towers, turrets, and other defences.

Picking up resources will allow you to buy and upgrade new units to send into battle.

Given the unfortunate timing of its release, Riot Rings, thankfully, doesn't involve acting like a **** and looting your local Currys. Instead, it tasks you with stopping a number of zoo stampedes all around the world.

There are over 100 levels of 'fun' to master, three gameplay modes – Campaign, Zen, and Free Play – and Game Center support.

Rugby Kicks

Rugby Kicks invites you to kick your way into the world's rugby elite, by rising through the ranks, collecting Game Center achievements, and pimping your characters look.

If you think bunches of angry birds are unjustly victimising pigs, new 2D action game Pigs In Trees will permit you to wreak some revenge.

Using an airforce made from pigs (naturally), your job is to shoot down the waves of woodpeckers hellbent on invading your home.

You do this over three campaigns and 45 levels, while unlocking achievements as you unload.

Candy Boy

Candy Boy combines match-three and puzzle gameplay over 100 levels and four worlds.

The aim of the game? To stop ravenous candy-hungry worms from destroying your world, of course.

Cado

Cado is a physics-based game that tasks you with guiding Cado (a rolling ball) to his destination, by using your device's touchscreen to rotate the game world.

There are 40 levels to complete, and 20 more on the way.

Save Yammi

Save Yammi is a Cut the Rope-esque title that sees you feeding a cute and cuddly octopus named Yammi.

Unlike the aforementioned cord cutter, though, your job is to draw ropes in place to transport a series of cookies into the hungry, gaping mouth.

Sticky HD sees you control Sticky, a ball of orange goo that you can fling across levels.

You'll have to bash enemies, collect power-ups that increase your size and allow you to freeze foes, and grab Crystal and Game Center achievements.

Full Deck Hold'Em

As you can probably imagine, Full Deck Hold’Em is an online poker game.

However, unlike similar titles that litter the App Store, the game enables you to video chat with up to three other players, meaning you can see when your buddy is bluffing.

You can also test your poker face against 16 AI opponents.

Universal

Defender of the Crown

Defender of the Crown is a strategy RPG that sees you go to battle against the hated Normans, as you aim to take the crown of England.

When you're not on the battlefield, you'll be taking part in majestic jousting tournaments for fame and fortune.

This is a 100 per cent accurate emulation of the classic Amiga game. Honest.

Let's Golf! 3

Gameloft's freemium Let's Golf! 3 allows you to challenge both friends and foes from across the globe to several crazy golf tournaments.

You'll be playing 18 holes at locations such as the Great Wall of China and Outer Space, with up to three other budding golfers.

You can play in local and online multiplayer matches via both wi-fi and Bluetooth, or slug it out with your buddies on a single device.

Namco's Fossil Feast allows you to take the reins of a pterodactyl, who soars through the air hunting prey.

Along the way, you'll encounter fierce mountain winds, prehistoric hunters, falling rocks, and a host of other hazards.

Pickpawcket is a new puzzler that pits cats against dogs.
As the world's sneakiest cat (literally) burglar, it's your job to outwit a gang of dogs with wind-up squirrels, disguises, and other contraptions, in order to reclaim 60 'amusingly drawn' cat paintings.

Game Center is on board for achievements.

Action-puzzler Spacelings sees you battle the sinister race of Roborg through more than 100 levels of 'logic and mayhem'.

Victory will require lateral thinking, teleports, reflectors, disruptor fields, a bit of luck, and more.

Julius Styles: The International

Wesley Snipes's Julius Styles: The International sees you infiltrating government buildings and businesses, blackmailing and assassinating people in the name of The Assembly – an elite circle of businessmen.

The game features voice acting from Blade himself, OpenFeint support, a 'multi-threaded storyline', and morality-based decisions.
