No App left behind in our new weekly feature for developers

The App Stork: Introducing Taxiball, Urban Kick Academy, Indigo Ocho to the iPhone
|

If there's a problem with the App Store, it's that it's an embarrassment of riches. There are simply too many games released every week for us to cover. Sadly, some perfectly deserving titles slip through the cracks from time to time, leaving many a hard working developer scratching his head in frustration.

This is where our new feature, The App Stork, comes in. Every week we receive loads of posts from developers on our forums keen to announce the birth of their latest creation.

Every week from now on, the App Stork will be swooping past the forum and then ferrying all the fresh young applings to the main site. So, even if we don't manage to review every app that comes our way, we can still welcome them into the world.

Seeing as this is the first week, we have chosen some slightly older titles among the newer ones, that were posted on our forum throughout the last few weeks. Next week, we'll have a full nest of fresh young progenies to shout about.

So if you are a developer that's been having trouble getting your new game reviewed or covered, the iPhone and iPod touch developer news section of our forums is the place to be. Even if the App Stork doesn't catch your app via the forum, a good number of our readers might, so it's definitely worth posting your wares in there.

Remember, we love videos, pictures and links, so the more of those you post in the forums relating to your game, the more likely it is the App Stork will notice it. Catch you on the forums!

Taxiball - Self Aware Games

Taxiball sees you ferrying travelers via the use of a big yellow ball, in an isometrically viewed city. You have to sprint from location to location against the clock and with a minimum of discomfort to your passengers. The accelerometer controls work well, it looks great and the beatbox soundtrack adds some real personality to the proceedings. A casual gem that you should check out now.

Company web site Urban Kick Academy - 1BigApp Urban Kick Academy follows the template laid down by Jonny Crash, but turns the settings up to 11. The visuals are crisp and the facebook connect feature is seamless. It's great fun too and worryingly addictive for weak willed individuals. Not terribly original, but masterfully executed - definitely worth the asking price of £0.59.

Company web siteIndigo Ocho - Axolotl Studios An 8-ball on a quest to destroy a labyrinth tower threatening to wreak havoc on the human world is as good a premise for a game as we can think of. Indigo Ocho throws you into just such a conceit, requiring all manner of tilty maneuvering to save the human race. It has great looks, a quirky premise and original gameplay. It's also a new direction for 3D games on the iPhone, so deserving of a look for that alone.
