Neverland Card Battles announced for PSP

Wage war in this Japanese inspired card dust-up

Neverland Card Battles announced for PSP

Yuke's of America has today announced it will be publishing PSP-exclusive title Neverland Card Battles for PSP. The new game is based on the original PS2 game you may never have heard of due to the fact it was only ever released in Japan.

Neverland Card Battles boasts an original Japanese art style and a cast of super-powered heroes and monsters. And if that doesn't sell it to you, perhaps the words of Ken Koyama, manager of product development at Yuke's will.

As he says: "The original Japanese version of Neverland Card Battles was extremely well received and caught our attention as the best trading card game out there. We have enhanced and optimized NCB for the portable experience, and will offer one of the finest card-strategy games ever created for the PSP this fall."

He means autumn, of course.

The game's plot goes something like this: There's a war between humans and monsters which is tearing Neverland apart and threatening to free the evil god Hellgaia from his tomb. The future lies in the hands of Dominators, who can wield the otherworldly power found within the land's Spectral Cards.

Exciting stuff.

More importantly, though, several enhancements have been made to the new PSP version of the game, including new cut-scenes, controls and ad-hoc multiplayer modes. There's also updated sound and graphics in a lovely 16:9 widescreen ratio.

Neverland Card Battles is currently only scheduled for release in North America, where it's due out this October. If a European release is confirmed, rest assured we'll let you know about it.
