Imagine, if you will, the phenomenon that was Tamagotchi crossed with the pocket-money drain that is Pokemon. Sounds horrific, doesn’t it? Well fear not because Neopets, to be released in September '05 on mobile phones via In-Fusio, should be a darn sight lighter on your wallet.

Based on the internet favourite www.neopets.com, the game isn’t really a game at all but an extension of the website in which you create a fantasy creature – a Neopet – and then nurture and look after it. Food, toys and other accoutrements are purchased and traded for your Neopet and Neopoints, the Neopet currency, are won through playing mini-games.

In-Fusio promises an intriguing merging of the internet and mobile phone, with Neopet owners who use both gaining access to exclusive creatures, goods and games.

Perhaps the biggest benefit of taking your Neopet with you via your mobile phone will be the fact that it’s easier to keep it fed and watered; failing to do so by not visiting the website can result in a very ill and unhappy creature.
