Capcom snaps up rights to Neopets game

Neopets Puzzle Adventure coming to DS this year

Capcom snaps up rights to Neopets game

If you're over a certain age, the chances are you might not be a regular frequenter of the Neopets website. But with over 44 million global memberships and an entire 'Neopoints' virtual economy, there are plenty of kids who are.

Which is probably why Capcom has decided to join forces with its creators in order to create the first multi-platform console game based on the series. After all, at least a few of those kids are going to want to be carrying their Neopets around with them on their DS surely? The game, Neopets Puzzle Adventure, has been announced for DS as well as PC and Wii, and is due out later this year.

However, there's a reason for all you non-Neopets fans to be interested in this game. And that reason is, it's being developed by Infinite Interactive, who developed Puzzle Quest, so have more than proven their ability to code an addictive puzzle game.

Which is exactly what Neopets Puzzle Adventure seems to be striving to become (for the puzzle bit, the clue's in the title). Based on the classic board game Reversi (or Othello, as it's better known), the game combines puzzle-solving skills with a Neopets experience complete with 150 quests, customisable Neopets and more than 300 collectable items.

There's even the neat bonus that the game will tie in with the online experience, allowing players to earn codes during the game by completing certain goals, then use these codes on the site to unlock exclusive content.

Best case scenario then, Neopets Puzzle Adventure could turn out to be a DS puzzler we can all enjoy. Whether we're into collecting virtual 'petpets' and dressing them up or not. We'll hopefully have more for you on this one soon.
