Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2 is announced for DS

Hot on the heels of the underwhelming Naruto: Path of the Ninja, released on DS in the US at the end of last year comes its sequel Path of the Ninja 2, which has just been announced by D3Publisher.

The ninja-kicking RPG will feature a new and original storyline and is promising to test aspiring ninjas everywhere as they explore the gameworld, solve puzzles and unleash jutsu attacks on their enemies. An expanded roster of 30 characters is included, as are improvements to the battle system, which will let players make use of new Squad Leader and Ninja Tag systems.

Online play is also supported, so players are able to fight against other players and, in the process, earn points and special ninja cards via wi-fi.

The DS touchscreen is used to control characters in the gameworld, as well as navigate menus, solve puzzles and unleash attacks while the microphone is to be used in some way, too. There are also side-scrolling adventure sequences in the game, which aim to test your reflexes while letting you move quickly from one area to another.

The original DS game might have scored a lowly 4/10 with us, but we're hoping this will turn out to be more than an outdated GBA revamp. So we'll keep an eye on it. See what you think from these first screenshots. We'll have more on the game as we get it, although as we're still waiting for the original one to come to the UK there's a chance it'll be a long wait.
