Mobile, Facebook and casual gaming publisher Digital Chocolate has launched its much anticipated NanoStar platform on Facebook, as well as the first two games in the Nanoverse, NanoStar Siege and NanoStar Castles.

The trick with games in the Nanoverse is that the NanoStar characters you collect can be used and experienced across each and every game under the NanoStar banner.

With over 150 characters to collect, they'll have different effects and experiences in each game you plonk them into.

“I want the NanoStar characters to feel like Pokémon for grownups,” said Trip Hawkins, CEO and founder of Digital Chocolate and former founder of EA.

“I like films like Shrek that can appeal to a wide-age range audience. People who grew up with Pokémon that are now on Facebook can also enjoy NanoStar Castles.”

NanoStar Siege and NanoStar Castles are both casual, free to play strategy games, but players can buy heroes to be used throughout the Nanoverse as if they were buying trading card booster packs.

A Gold 1-Pack character pack costs 10 DC-Cash, which is about $1.60 (about £1). You can also earn in-game money by completing special offers, free trials and surveys.

You can find NanoStar Castles here and NanoStar Siege here.
