Digital Chocolate reveals second NanoStar game: NanoStar Siege
Trading cards meet tower defence
We’ve been waiting for Digital Chocolate’s latest, greatest game concept, called NanoStars, since it was announced in September 2009.
According to head honcho Trip Hawkins, we shouldn't have too much longer to wait for the "new gaming platform that’s something like Pokémon for adults".
Over on his OMG Blog, he's been explaining the concept, in which NanoStar characters work as power-ups, or what trading card game fans call modifiers
The neat trick Digital Chocolate is hoping to pull off is to make NanoStars compatible with lots of its games. Indeed, you'll own characters external to the games, and potentially even be able to trade them with other players.
The launch title NanoVerse Castles, will have you drawing and replacing cards from a deck of 52, to take over the enemy's territory.
Hawkins has also revealed the second game in the series, NanoStar Siege, will be a tower defense game, in which the NanoStars will presumably work as modifiers to the various weapons you place.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the ambitious concept pans out in reality.
