The Pokemon Company may have just put its foot in it, but that's not going to stop us and the International Business Times from leaping on this and bringing you the latest well-sourced rumour that the Nintendo NX is, as we've suspected all along, a hybrid console / handheld.

Tsunekazu Ishihara, the Pokemon Company's Chief Executive, confirmed this to the Wall Street Journal, where he stated that, not only what the NX will be, but that the Pokemon Company plans to fully support and make games for it.

This story follows on from Eurogamer's report back in July that the Nintendo NX will be a handheld device with detachable controllers that can be fitted into a docking system for use on your TV. And that, as it's a handheld device, we'll see a return to using cartridges.

Also rumoured are new Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon titles appearing on the console within the first six months of its launch. That's quite a lineup if it proves to be true.

Given that the Nintendo NX is planned for a March 2017 release, it's a pretty safe assumption that Nintendo will formally announce the console very soon.
