Here's what the Nintendo NX could look like

So, it seems like the Nintendo NX will be a hybrid console.

It's a handheld, but you can snap the controls off and slot the rest of the device into a base station to turn the whole thing into a home console.

Some have had trouble visualising exactly what that would look like. So, thankfully we have tireless nerds on NeoGAF to help fill in the blanks.

Here are a bunch of mock-ups that might help explain what the NX will look like.

Eurogamer

Here's Eurogamer's mock-up of the console.

Pittree

Pittree brings that concept to life, using elements of the New Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U gamepad.

Azoo

Azoo's going for something a bit more like the Nvidia Shield: a bonafide controller with a screen on the top. The screen can then be detached and docked for TV play.

NX

This one, from Enduin, envisions the two controllers as being identical, so two people can play at once. It's even got the funny little nub from the New 3DS.

NX

Some have speculated that when the screen is removed, the two controllers could snap back together to form one, contiguous controller. anothertech provides a quick mock-up to show how that might look

NX

Fox_Mulder has given the Gamevice - a wraparound controller for the iPad - a quick Nintendo makeover. Could it look like this?

NX

Okay, this one by ElectricBlanketFire, is getting a bit out of hand. The screen and one of the controller sections would be quite nice, but when you've got two on there it looks like an alien spaceship.

NX

And now we're playing on Tingle's feet, with a screen on his balls. We've gone too far. Reel it back in, guys.

NX

Alright, that's better. Nice one, the androgyne. This is literally just a Wii U gamepad with lines on it, and that would make for a weird little controller that'd give you hand cramp.

But that logo! Very clever.

NX

Similar idea to the others, but Leizt has given it a fancy 3D render.

In his opinion, the controllers would have gyros for Wii Remote-style play, and the device would work touchscreen only (and in portrait) for mobile-style play.

NX

Wait, hold on, what

NX

And finally, it's worth remembering this prototype Wii U Gamepad from Nintendo, which literally has two Wii Remotes glued to the side. Maybe it's like that. MAYBE!
