Sony hints at high NGP price: 'Something that's pricey will ultimately find its audience if there's enough value there'

President of Sony Computer Entertainment America Jack Tretton has revealed in an interview with Fast Company that he doesn’t believe, "price makes or kills a platform."
This could be a bad sign for those hoping that Sony’s next portable, codenamed NGP, will come out at a reasonable price. A recent rumour suggests a price of around $250-350.
Tretton says that it's the value of a system’s features that's truly important to consumers, rather than price. "Something that's lousy and very inexpensive is not going to be successful ... Something that's pricey will ultimately find its audience if there's enough value there."
