You can never have too many puzzle games. Well, good puzzle games.

In fairness, we don't know if NEVES is any good, but the concept is certainly promising. In essence, your task is to align pieces of a puzzle and build figures that correspond to a silhouette.

Each puzzle consists of seven wooden blocks and after some clever rearranging you should end up with a specific figure, ranging from a simple sword image to more complicated creations such as birds or planes – one look at the screenshots and it should all make perfect sense.

The critical thinking required to complete the puzzles would suggest a more mature player, although the developer is keen to stress the concept should nevertheless appeal to lovers of puzzle games, regardless of age.

"We're greatly excited to bring NEVES to the Nintendo DS," said Shane Takahashi, CEO of Yuke's Company of America, presumably while standing in front of a very bright light source. "The game's modern aesthetic and design should appeal to more discerning gamers while its portability and approachable gameplay should interest almost anyone."

And, of course, the unique control system of Nintendo's handheld play a crucial part in the proceedings. Controlling the puzzle pieces with the stylus is said to be thoroughly intuitive, with tilting, flipping and moving blocks just a case of dragging and tapping.

Despite its simplistic nature, though, the developer is promising a challenging experience. Over 500 different puzzles feature and are divided amongst four different modes, such as Puzzle, Count, Time and Versus.

Due in November, expect more NEVES news before release.
