It was bound to happen sooner or later but Nokia, to our meagre knowledge, is the first manufacturer to launch a mainstream mobile phone with its own hard drive. The new N91 is the lucky handset to be endowed with such a capacious memory and Nokia says that you’ll be able to fit 3,000 MP3s on it. As such, it’s being touted as the ultimate phone for your music, an issue we’re sure Motorola’s Rokr and Sony Ericsson’s Walkman phones will have something to say about, though it certainly has the advantage of being able to store more tracks. According to Sony Ericsson, the W800 can hold 130 tracks straight out of the box while the Rokr manages just 100.

There’s more to the N91 than music, though, as it comes with a 2 megapixel camera and a high resolution 176 x 208 screen. It’s got what it takes to handle complex visuals, too, as it’ll play music videos and other clips that you download. Intriguingly, it also features a wi-fi connection, similar to that of the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS. This is to make downloading music onto the phone a lot easier but, if it catches on, it opens up plenty of fascinating opportunities for multi-player gaming
