N-Gage production line still suffering delays

But first handsets with preloaded client are shipping now

N-Gage production line still suffering delays

It seems Nokia still has a few technical gremlins in the works of its N-Gage mobile gaming service. Just one of the five games promised for release in the weeks beginning 9th June and 16th June have so far materialised.

The Sims 2 Pets and Pro Series Golf were due out in the first of those weeks, followed by Bounce Boing Voyage, Midnight Pool 3D and Dogz last week.

Only The Sims 2 Pets is on sale at the time of writing, and while the original announcement on the official N-Gage blog did warn that titles may slip, the fact that four out of the five have isn't great news.

The post itself appears to have disappeared from the blog, too, incidentally.

We're certainly not keen to bash N-Gage, and there is some positive news to report. The first N81 handsets with the full N-Gage application preloaded on them went on sale last week.

That means users won't need to go through the slightly fiddly process of installing the app via Nokia's PC Suite application on their computers, and should help the N-Gage community to grow rapidly.

If that means a horde of fresh-faced newbies for us to obliterate in the online mode of System Rush: Evolution, we're all for it. Now, if only those new games would turn up...
