Still waiting for the N-Gage 'First Access' application...

It seems those rumours of a Tuesday launch were wide of the mark

Still waiting for the N-Gage 'First Access' application...

We're not getting too worried yet about Nokia not releasing the N-Gage First Access application for N81 and N81 8GB phones. After all, it only promised it would be sometime this week when it announced the application's imminent release on the official N-Gage blog:

"Hey everybody, we are rolling out N-Gage next week! Those of you who have a Nokia N81 or N81 8GB will have exclusive access to the pre-release version of the N-Gage application and one or more N-Gage games."

So technically, it could release the First Access app at 11.59pm this Sunday, and still have kept its promise.

But there were plenty of rumours over the weekend that the application would launch this Tuesday, with all of them leading back to a story on Nokia-focused blog, NokNok, quoting insider sources as "pointing the finger very much at next Tuesday".

Well, it seems like those fingers were pointing erroneously, or they were right, but more technical snafus have delayed the launch of the application.

We're naturally keen for Nokia to get it and the N-Gage Arena community working properly, but there's a definite air of frustration on blogs and the official N-Gage forums, particularly from gamers who've gone out and bought N81s specifically to get first dibs on the new gaming platform.

In summary: there's no firm news, and the rumours were just rumours. Hope that's all clear. Rest assured, our thumbs are poised over our N81 8GB to get the application as soon as it's released, so you'll read all about it here first.

Even if it means posting into the early hours of Monday morning.
