You certainly can't fault UK developer Mobile Pie for ambition.

It's currently working on a game for iPhone called My Star, which seems to include every buzzword going in mobile games.

It's freemium with in-app purchases and subscriptions, has you acting in a Sims-like fashion as you build up the career of your music star, will include location-based elements, and even has your star emailing, texting and calling you.

Oh, and it's going to be published by one of the big UK mobile operators, although exactly who hasn't yet been announced.

Need a bigger boat?

As you can see from the first screenshots to be released, it takes its artistic inspiration from old skool block graphics.

Still, this is one game that if it works as planned, really won't be about the graphics, but social interaction, big brands and overwhelming viral stickiness.

To find out more about thinking behind the game, you can read a long interview with My Star's creative producer Will Luton over on PocketGamer.biz.

My Star is due to be released by the end of 2010 for iPhone. Expect more news soon.
