Once upon a time, every child's dream was to have an enormous model railway running in the loft. Well, we say every child – often it was every dad's dream, brutally imposed on a child who'd probably rather have been playing Hungry Hippos.

Anyway, model railways aren't quite as popular nowadays, in the age of electronic entertainment. But HandyGames is hoping to bring them right back with its new mobile game, My Model Train.

It's a colourful sim that has you working switches, signals and reversal-tracks to keep your toy railway running, while choosing the ideal route to transfer passengers between stations. You have to collect coal and water en-route though, and avoid crashing into other trains.

The game takes an isometric viewpoint, and will offer up to 25 landscapes for your train to tootle through, including crossings, bridges and tunnels. HandyGames also promises there'll be unlockable levels, too, for really keen players.

My Model Train is out at the end of May, so click 'Track It!' to receive an alert when we review it, hopefully triggering an express return to this site.
