Cave to bring Mushihimesama: Bug Panic to iPhone

Following the critical and commercial success of hardcore bullet-hell shmups Espgaluda II and DoDonPachi Resurrection, Japanese developer Cave has announced yet another manic game that has iPhone in its sights.

While the original arcade and PS2 game Mushihimesama is a bullet-hell shooter, the upcoming Bug Panic is instead a multi-directional shooter (as described by Cave’s Press Release) or a bug-hell action shooter (as described by Cave’s Twitter), and features characters from the original shooter.

Like its two previous games, the number of onscreen enemies (this time bugs and insects, instead of bullets) means older iPhones and iPod touchs will not be compatible. Make sure you've got a brand spanking new device (at least a 3GS or third-generation iPod touch) before getting your hopes up.

The game will be released later this year. You can catch the first trailer below, but you might want to turn your sound down first.
