Maybe the recent Transformers movie was techno-pants, and the sequel probably won't be much better, but that doesn't mean that the classic robots in disguise toys aren't still cool.

But it's sometimes a bit hard to justify to your boss why your desk is littered with toys (especially when he catches you making "peowm!" and "ak-ak-ak-ak-ak!" noises as you re-enact a fight between Optimus Prime and the Decepticons).

Fortunately, Japanese toy company Takara is about to launch a line of Transformers computer and iPod peripherals, making it easier to disguise your toys in the modern work environment.

Take this USB flash drive, for example. Really it's a deadly Tigatron Transformer, but when the gaffer is wandering around the cubicles it changes into a 2GB USB memory stick.

But a Transformer isn't a Transformer without something evil to battle, so this Tripticon transforming laser mouse is just what you need to play out a proper mechanical battle on your desk.

Naturally, you'll also be keen to include the immortal leader of the Transformers in your inappropriate, juvenile, yet strangely manly desk wars, and can take your pick from this Optimus Prime iPod dock and speaker set...

... or this Blaster transforming USB hub.

This is work as it was meant to be played.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
