Rumour: Microsoft bringing Xbox Live games to iOS and Android

According to Business Insider, "a developer familiar with Microsoft's plans" has today confirmed that the Redmond-based company will soon build apps that will allow you to play Xbox Live games on your iOS and Android devices.

"Xbox is a client of ours. There's no way they'll be ignoring those other mobile platforms," the aforementioned developer said.

Rumours of such a move by Microsoft have been circulating since website LiveSide spotted a job posting on The Big M's careers site, which asked for developers with both iOS and Android experience.

This job advertisement could, of course, be linked to the recently released iPhone and iPad My Xbox Live companion app, but the posting hints at something more substantial.

"As the team inside IEB (Interactive Entertainment Business) dedicated to mobile experiences, we work closely with console software team and Xbox Live services team to bring the latest and greatest gaming and entertainment experience to mobile platforms including Windows Phone, iOS and other mobile platforms," the posting reads.
