I think it's fair to say that no one expected Chair's next game game to be a Celebrity Deathmatch-style slasher, based on the same system of swipes and taps as Infinity Blade, that sees you taking control of either President Obama or Mitt Romney in a debate to the death.

But we live in turbulent times, and this lightly political, joke-riddled freemium title is exactly what we've ended up with. And, to be frank, it's a bit rubbish.

The right to bear arms

At the start of a bout you choose a bobble-headed representation of either Obama or Romney, both of whom have a few occasionally funny set phrases that they warble out whenever they get the chance.

Then it's off to a location around the White House for a one-on-one duel to decide which of the two candidates is more worthy of the public vote. Infinity Blade's trinity of block-dodge-deflect remains in place, but now they're called damage control, spin, and rebuttal, and your barrage of blows is hilariously referred to as the debate.

Alongside bashing your opponent's face in, your main aim in the game is collecting cash. You add to your coffers with victories and tapping on your rival at the right time, and earn extra through buffs and challenges.

You can spend cash on new outfits, weapons, and stylish accoutrements, allowing you to deck out the presidential hopefuls in funny wigs, fake moustaches, and super hero costumes.

No we can't

More importantly, you can spend your hard-fought winnings on buffs at the start of each fight. These give you extra bonuses, and let you win even more money. Of course, if you run low you can always get the credit card out to buy some more.

Not to sound too cynical, but it does seem fitting that a game based around the race for the White House is so heavily focused on dragging in as much cash as you can. And while the game does include a link to register to vote, the level of political engagement here is almost zero.

For all of its oddness, Vote!!! gets boring very quickly, and once you've heard all the quips and won a few of the embarrassingly easy bouts there's really no point going back to it ever again.

Vote!!!

Dull, repetitive, and just not that funny, Vote!!! won't keep you entertained no matter your political persuasion
