French publisher Anuman Interactive has just released its iOS strategy title The Bluecoats - North vs South, which follows the Yankees and Confederates as they face off during the American Civil War.

This turn-based title, which is a remastered version of the North & South game released in 1989 by Infogames, sees you take command of either warring camp as they capture states, assault enemy forts, and defend ports that bring in reinforcements from Europe.

You'll face several different battles as you move across the US and capture more terrain. For example, meeting an enemy inside a state will trigger one of three mini-games, whereas running into a foe on standard territory will result in a real-time battle.

During these battles, you have to make tactical choices, such as destroying your opponent's bridges to prevent his cavalry from storming your encampment.

The Bluecoats - North vs South is available in two flavours: an iPhone-only version that'll set you back £1.49 / $1.99 [buy], and a Universal version that'll cost you £2.49 / $3.99 [buy].
