Mid-week iOS releases: DrawRace 2, Tiny Invaders, Crimson: Steam Pirates, Flick Soccer HD, Jetpack Joyride, and more

Welcome to another round-up of the new mid-week iPhone and iPad releases.

As you should all know by now, we bring you this round-up because we're simply too busy to write a story for every single new game out.

Rob and Rich are both weaving their magic in the editing chair, the rest of the team are debating whether Alan Wake was a scary game, and I'm furiously typing up this little number.

It's another hot week for new iOS releases, with the likes of Jetpack Joyride, Draw Race 2, Crimson: Steam Pirates, and a couple of Chillingo titles all hitting the App Store.

All of the games below are now available to download from the New Zealand App Store, meaning you can pick them up in the UK and US from around midnight this evening.

iPhone

Pocket RPG iPhone Edition

Pocket RPG iPhone Editon is, as you've probably already guessed, an iPhone version of the popular iPad game.

You'll be traversing randomly generated dungeons, collecting items and treasures, defeating bosses, and unlocking Game Center achievements.

DrawRace 2

DrawRace 2 is an unusual drive-'em-up in that you trace out the racing line of your car with your finger.

You do this across 180 challenges, gymkhana skill games, or online against buddies, behind the wheel of rally cars, arctic rally cars, and V12 beasts.

Fruit Roll

Chillingo's Fruit Roll gives you the pleasure of squishing caterpillars, monkeys, frogs, and a host of other critters.

The catch?

You can only roll over things of the same colour, meaning you have to seek out colour-changing fruits.

Word Chat 

Word Chat is a word game that uses the iPhone 4's and iPad 2's front-facing camera to display your mug as you play with your friends.

There are three different game modes – 200 tiles, Countdown, and Infinite Play – tons of achievements to bag, and leaderboards to top.

Pioneer Lands: old west settlers strategy

Pioneer Lands is a business simulation-cum-strategy title set in America's Old West, which tasks you with developing new tracts of land.

That means completing various tasks over 99 levels, collecting 23 types of resources, and generally farming.

BridgeTheGap

BridgeTheGap tasks you with aiding a pirate expedition in its search for buried treasure.

There are 25 'puzzle-packed' levels on offer, stylish hats to collect, trinkets to barter over, and trophies to unlock.

Tiny Invaders

Tiny Invaders hands you control of fun-loving tentacled space aliens that can hop from host to host and secretly control minds.

Your mission? To reach the President of the United States, of course.

There are 60 levels to complete and full Game Center integration for leaderboards and achievements.

iPad

Crimson: Steam Pirates

Crimson: Steam Pirates is a turn-based strategy title in which you command a fleet of over a dozen Steampunk ships, zeppelins, and submarines in the Caribbean.

There are eight voyages to undertake with 20 unique crew members - each with their own gameplay-enhancing abilities – and two pass-and-play multiplayer scenarios to tackle.

Jelly Defence

Jelly Defence sees you join the 'jelly forces' and attempt to lead them to glory against the evil invaders.

According to the game's description, this involves building towers and leading your army into battle in a 'magic, addicting and surreal adventure'.

Flick Soccer HD

Your job in Flick Soccer HD is to simply score goals, using your highly talented left / right foot – well, your finger – and the game's unique after-touch ball control.

There are Quickshot, Endurance, Challenge, Smash It!, and Crossbar modes to tackle, 'the most realistic goalkeeper on the App Store' to contend with, and Game Center leaderboards and achievements.

Pod Odyssey

Pod Odyssey tasks you with guiding a lost space pod through jagged cosmic mazes, around missile-shooting robots, and away from homing space spiders. They sound scary.

There are 27 levels to beat, each with 'dual mission goals' and unique sci-fi graphics and artwork.

Universal 

Jetpack Joyride 

Barry Steakfries returns in Halfbrick's Jetpack Joyride, a new endless running (flying?) title from the Aussie Fruit Ninja developer.

You'll have to avoid many obstacles, collect coins, complete missions, and try to stay alive, all while travelling at breakneck speeds.

Frogger Decades

Frogger Decades - a celebration of the amphibious original's 30th birthday - tasks you with avoiding various obstacles to successfully hop to your destination.

This new chapter of the franchise includes new never-before-seen abilities, Game Center achievements and leaderboards, and OpenFeint support.

Megastunt Mayhem Pro 

Level Eight's Megastunt Mayhem Pro sees you using gesture based actions to race, trick, and show off around a series of tracks.

There are different monster trucks to own and customise, and support for both OpenFeint and Game Center.

Explodables

Expodables sees you detonating rockets to form a 'beautiful, exhilarating display', to rack up huge point-scoring combos, to unlock hearts, crowns, and multipliers, and to travel around the galaxy.

There are 45 levels and dynamically changing environments to tackle. Oh, and a bunch of Game Center leaderboards to top.

Punch a Hole

Your mission in Punch a Hole is to strike colourful balls into their corresponding pockets by punching holes in the playing field.

Each of the game's 80 levels will award you with a star rating based on the number of holes it takes for you to accomplish your task.

Game Center is on hand for achievement junkies.

Swing the Bat

Swing the Bat – ANOTHER new Chillingo title – is a physics / action puzzler that tasks you with flinging a little winged creature through the air.

That's not all, though, as you have to maintain momentum, stay ahead of the rising sun, collect fruit, and avoid obstacles such as tigers and pandas.

Completing objectives unlocks 'awesome' bat costumes.

Spin The Nut

Spin The Nut follows Azoo, a cute squirrel who must gather his nuts before the winter sets in.

Your mission is to successfully guide nuts to the hungry squirrel before time runs out, while avoiding obstacles such as deadly spikes and electric barriers.

The game features 80 levels and Game Center leaderboards.

Safari Zoo

As you can probably imagine, Safari Zoo sees you caring for 24 varieties of animal in your very own wildlife park.

You can fill it with zebras, lions, giraffes, and elephants, and money-makers such as guest tents, visitor centres, and gift shops.

Bloody Bunnies

Bloody Bunnies challenges you to hop on top of your friends' heads across four 'amazing' 3D environments.

You can play against up to five buddies online or share your iPad with your favourite one of the bunch.
