Seeing as Gameloft has already released Splinter Cell: Conviction, we can't label the newly announced Silent Ops a clone of the sneaking and shooting Sam Fisher franchise.

Still, there's little doubt that the type of gameplay looks broadly the same, as you take the role of three agents from Ubiquity - a secret organisation protecting the world from the sort of threats other agencies aren't equiped to handle.

Yeap, you're out to takedown some clever arch villains who are using advanced cloning to gain world dominance, as they tend to do.

Trinity of agents

In terms of actual gameplay, you get to take control of three characters. One looks like a bit of a without stealth Sam Fisher action bruiser, while the other male is more of a James Bond-style infiltrator, and third is a hot catsuited ninja woman.

So expect plenty of guns, gadgets - including a wing suit with guns - hacking, melee combat, and explosive set pieces as you attempt to save the world.

Seven locations, including Geneva, Dubrovnik and Hong Kong, are promised, while there will also be various co-op multiplayer modes that put the different attributes of the three characters to good use.

Silent Ops is due for release soon on iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones and tablets.
