Both the iPhone and iPad versions of Sid Meier's Pirates! and Civilization Revolution have gone on sale today, with the mobile versions cut down to 69p / 99c and the tablet editions reduced to £1.49 / $1.99.
My own pick of the two has to be Pirates!, which I awarded a Pocket Gamer Gold Awarrrd to on release. In Pirates!, you assume the role of a fresh-faced 18 year-old on a quest to rescue his family from an evil nasty pirate.
Or, alternatively, you can sail around the seven seas, bedding governer's daughters, getting into bar brawls, hunting down treasure, ransacking Spanish towns, and planting the Union Jack on mainland South America. If you like.
Civilization Revolution, on the other hand, should be somewhat familiar to the console strategy gamers in the crowd, as it's the slimline variation on the classic PC series.
The emphasis with Revolution is very much on tight warlike play, which will disappoint those that prefer to peacefully build an empire.
