Shift 2: Unleashed swerves onto New Zealand App Store on iPhone and iPad, on the UK grid tonight

Shift 2: Unleashed, EA's sequel to the Pocket Gamer Gold Award-winning Need for Speed: Shift, has just careened onto the New Zealand App Store for iPhone and iPad.

Which means, petrolheads, that it’ll be drifting over various ponds to the UK and the US later tonight.

Shift 2: Unleashed is a high-speed racer featuring EA's new Origin service for leaderboards. And once registered on Origin, you'll be entitled to some exclusive cups and some free NFS wonga.

There are three new locations to churn up in this latest Need for Speed iteration, including the Black Forest, the coasts of Rio, and Abu Dhabi.

You can put your pedal to the metal in 40-odd events, with the mouthwatering Pagani Huayra taking you to speeds in excess of 200mph.

So, if you can pull over when it is safe to do so, download Shift 2: Unleashed for £2.99 / $4.99 on iPhone or £4.99 / $6.99 on iPad when it emerges from the UK and US pit lanes tonight.
