To coincide with the
Scream 4's big screen release this week, The Weinstein Company is bringing
Scream 4 the game to iOS in the film studio's first ever movie/game tie-in.
A preview from IGN gives us a good impression of what to expect from Scream 4 on iPad and iPhone. You play as the masked Ghostface, with the aim of killing all the people in each of the game's four self-contained maps.
Although that sounds a uniquely grim setup, this isn’t the first game to allow you to be the killer in a video game movie tie in – that honour goes to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre on the Atari 2600, way back in 1983. Admittedly, Scream 4's graphics are a little better.
To target a victim you simply get close enough to tap on them and then drag your finger along a line on the screen to unleash a knife attack.
The IGN preview claims that these controls are solid enough, but the game itself is a little too repetitive, not allowing you to pull off any attack that doesn't involve the knife.
Scream 4 will be released alongside the movie on April the 14th in the US and on the 15th for the UK. A price for the game has yet to be announced.

I don't think much of the Scream films but they must be making money if they've made four of them now. The game concept, however, sounds interesting, casting you in the role of the bad guy. You don't see that too often.
