As everyone intelligent and handsome knows (read: in their late 20s / early 30s), the 1980s were the best time for exciting, original children's cartoons.
Mighty Rabbit's Saturday Morning RPG looks to tap into my childhood by blending in bits and pieces inspired from some of the best kids programming around with gameplay taken straight out of the JRPG rulebook.
In the next episode...
Saturday Morning RPG casts you as Martin "Marty" Hall, a high school student with incredible powers, who finds himself under attack from the evil Commander Hood.
These powers, if you're wondering, include striking "nostalgic" moves, such as unleashing a herd of multi-coloured zebras (no idea), as well as the ability to use everyday items such as pencils to kill groups of nasty soldiers.
The game is split into episodes (of course), with your decisions affecting events in later parts of the story.
Saturday Morning RPG will be on the App Store from midnight tonight for free.
What's odd is that I can't see any IAP prices on Saturday Morning RPG's New Zealand App Store product page, which either means the dev is hiding or that the game is genuinely free (which would be a nice surprise).
Check out the game in action (plus the ace soundtrack) below.
Also, I think only the first 2 episodes are finished and only episode 1 is free, all episodes after that will cost. Episode 2 is supposed to release with 1 or shortly after, episode 3 is supposed to be available in may with more releasing through the year. On a side note I saw the dev's say if this one sells well, they're interested in doing a Super SMRPG, that does the same thing only using the 90's as reference.
