Capcom is celebrating the impending release of Operation Raccoon City - the next chapter in its popular Resident Evil franchise - by bringing an "augmented reality zombie experience" to the UK.

From March 22nd, waves of undead flesh-eaters will walk the streets of Bristol, Manchester, and London.

Naturally, you'll need Capcom's special augmented reality app for iPhone and Android to actually see the zombies.

If you fancy yourself as the next Chris Redfield, you can register your interest on the Resident Evil micro-site or Capcom's Facebook page and be in with a chance of eradicating zombies across one of the three abovementioned cities.

If you're lucky enough to live in London (and lucky enough to be chosen), you'll even be treated to a special live event, which will include a briefing from 'experienced' operatives and a hunt around the capital's urban environment.

Spreading quickly

"We are all positive that Operation Raccoon City is going to be another successful branch to the franchise, enticing not only Resident Evil fans but also those new to the franchise," Adam Merrett, Capcom's PR manager, said.

"This real-world game is the perfect opportunity to bring the horror, drama, and edge-of-the seat gaming out into the real world. Operation Raccoon City - UK Takeover promises to be one the most memorable weekends of 2012."
