A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to fund an all-new action-packed iPhone and iPad title that - should the desired amount of money be raised - will be developed by "industry veterans" who have worked on numerous AAA console titles, such as Metal Gear Solid and Halo.

Republique, which will be designed specifically for touch-based devices, sees you take on the role of Big Brother, and attempt to protect the game's protagonist - a young woman named Hope - from harm.

Basically, you can take control of any network-enabled device found throughout the game's world, meaning you can call elevators, tap phone calls, and slam doors shut on enemies.

Republique's developers - Camouflaj and Logan - are hoping to create a campaign that will last between four and six hours, as well as a branching "pull-no-punches" storyline that unfolds as you explore the game.

If you like the look of what you see in the video below, head on over to Republique's Kickstarter page and help to fund the project.
