Pocket Gamer Court: Is the iPhone 5's rumoured 4-inch screen a welcome change?
|

All rise. Pocket Gamer Court is in session. Judge Jon presiding.

Last time on Pocket Gamer Court, we found in-app purchases to be guilty of ruining the balance of, and sucking the fun out of, mobile games.

This week, we want to know whether the iPhone 5's rumoured widescreen display is good for gamers or if it will cause developer headaches and aching thumbs.

Almost every iPhone 5 rumourmonger on the sun believes Apple's next-generation smartphone will have a 4-inch screen - a good half inch bigger than the display on every iPhone released hitherto.

Parts, allegedly leaked by iPhone manufacturers in China, suggest that the next iPhone will sport a tall 4-inch screen

On the one hand, this is a good thing. More screen space means more real estate for games and videos, more room to put your thumbs during games, and (slightly) more ammo in the Great Android vs iOS Girth War.

But, on the other, it's a disaster waiting to happen. Most top-of-the-range Android displays are actually too tall to navigate with a thumb. A larger screen also means yet another screen resolution for developers to consider when making games.

What do YOU think, though? Is bigger better, or is it what you do with it that counts? Leave your thoughts in the comments below, and we'll deliver our final judgement soon.
