TGS '11: Sony unveils PlayStation Suite SDK - Android games on the PS Vita
|

Been wondering why Sony keeps insisting on calling everything “PlayStation Certified” these past few months, despite the fact most products - such as the upcoming tablets - look nothing like a PlayStation?

Well, wonder no longer.

The Japanese firm has been quietly plugging away at a cross-platform SDK (Software Development Kit) for developers that allows the non-Android PS Vita to be able to play games designed for other ‘Certified’ devices. Or, to put it another way, developers will be able to adapt their Android games to work on the Vita.

It doesn’t mean the Vita will magically be able to run Android titles, however, as it relies on the developers altering the code so that the game is compatible.

The SDK is expected to be available in November, which gives developers a little lead-in time before the Vita launches in Europe early next year.
