Sony releases open beta version of PlayStation Suite SDK to encourage original content for PlayStation-certified devices

Sony has announced that it will release the open beta version of its PlayStation Suite software development kit (SDK) next month, with an official version following later this year.

The SDK has been available as part of a closed beta in Japan, the US, and the UK since November 2011, but Sony will be making these tools available to developers worldwide when the phased rollout begins next month.

What this means is that we should be one step closer to receiving some original content on the PlayStation Suite.

Owners of PlayStation-certified devices, like the Xperia Play, Xperia S and the Xperia arc, will be able to download this newly created content later in the year. It seems likely that Vita owners will gain access to this fresh content, too.

Sony Computer Entertainment itself may be bolstering the PlayStation Suite's library soon by porting a handful of high-profile PSP games across to PlayStation-certified devices.
