If you've visited Sony's PSN Store this week, you'll probably have noticed that you can now download
God Hand and a bunch of other classic PS2 titles.
Unfortunately, Sony has revealed in a PS Vita FAQ on
PlayStation.Blog that it has no plans to make these new titles compatible with its latest handheld console. PS3 games aren't on the agenda either.
"PlayStation does not have plans to make PS Vita compatible with PS3 or PS2 titles at this point," the FAQ states.
You will, however, be able to play supported digital PSP titles and the PSN Store's range of PSP minis, such as Gameloft's
N.O.V.A. and Halfbrick's
Age of Zombies.
You'll also be able to download and play PSone classics titles, but compatibility and further details will be announced "when they are ready".

The Vita does not posess the processing power to emulate PS2 games. We will never see PS2 emulation on the Vita.

We already knew about the digital PSP titles being compatible, that hardly softens the blow.
It's things like this that will make the Vita a more tempting target for hackers. Bust it open to play PS2 ROMS and it's worth buying a second Vita just for access to that library.
Come on Sony, think for once...
