[UPDATE] Since this story was published, Gameloft has issued a second statement concerning Order & Chaos hacking. Read the first and the second here.

Gameloft has revealed on its Order & Chaos Online forum that it "can't be sure" all data lost during the recent security breach will be restored.

The French publisher also "can't promise anything in terms of deadlines" for when said restoration will be complete, but is hoping that all accounts will be fixed "by the end of the week".

Players whose accounts can't be fully restored will be compensated with gold and runes - the game's premium currency - which you normally buy through IAP. These allow you to splash out on special items, such as pets.

The fat lady hasn't sung

Unfortunately, it appears that Gameloft is still unable to prevent Order & Chaos Online accounts from being hacked, with players - as recently as yesterday - claiming that hackers remain able to gain access to their characters.

What's worse, though, is that a rummage through the numerous Order & Chaos Online forum threads reveals players who allege to still be missing valuable items stolen as many as 74 days ago.

Players have also taken issue with Gameloft's official statement, which said that "all users who have contacted us saw their account situation restored." One forum user states: "I know of absolutely no one who has gotten their accounts fully restored since the hacking began."

It's all in an update

So, what's Gameloft doing about all this?

Well, for starters, it's releasing a new update that will add SSL encryption to the data packets sent when you log in to the game. It's also thinking about introducing a secondary password or "more encryption methods".

This update will go live once it gets through Apple's approval process.
