The developer of Pocket Gamer Bronze Award-winning platformer Meganoid, OrangePixel, has just released an old skool side-scrolling shooter for Android called Neoteria.

The app, which boast three unique worlds to explore, sees you gun down enemies, discover secret pathways, defeat huge bosses, and attempt to survive each of the game's stages.

You can take to the skies and unlock new pilots using your device's touchscreen, a hardware keyboard, or a Wii Remote. Neoteria is even optimised for Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play.

Social gaming network OpenFeint is baked right in, so you can unlock achievements as you go.

Opposing forces

Neoteria is also set to make its way to Apple's iPhone and iPad, complete with support for the Cupertino-based company's Game Center service.

OrangePixel will add new worlds, game modes, and pilots to the game as soon as it hits 20,000 downloads across both platforms.

Neoteria is available to download from the Android Market in two different varieties: a free ad-supported version [download], and an ad-free £1.68 version [download].
