NaturalMotion's Backbreaker American Football tackle box series has been a massive success.
Across two releases on iOS and Android, it's done over 7 million downloads thanks to its high quality graphics and animation, plus the easy pick-up-and-up nature that's attractive even to those of us who aren't that keen on the sport.

So how to take it to the next level?
Well, getting an official NFL licence so you can include the 32 US league teams would be a good start, but NaturalMotion has taken it much further in NFL Rivals.
Building on the series' gameplay of dodging, trucking, and jinking to make a touchdown, or alternatively crushing an opposing running back in defensive mode, you can now support your favourite NFL team during the actual season.
This works as every time you play, your game score is added to the total of the team you're playing as. Of course, with a potential global audience of millions, there will be plenty of competition to get your team to the top of the leaderboard, never mind staying there.
Further linking the game into the NFL season, each realworld game will be supported by the Gameday feature that lets you play alongside your team's schedule; also gaining you bonus points along the way.
NFL Rivals will be released for iPhone and Android on 8 September, priced $2.99, €2.39 or £1.99 on iOS, and $2.99 or local equivalent on Android.
