It's been a busy week for Hasbro. First, the game manufacturer unveiled its vision for the future of board games by slapping an iPad in the middle of The Game of Life.

Shortly after, we got a bit too excited over a pair of iPhone-compatible Lazer Tag blasters.

To finish off the week with a bang, EA has just brought its own take on Hasbro's famous Monopoly license, with the freemium management sim, Monopoly Hotels.

I'll take the penthouse

Monopoly Hotels takes you behind the red plastic facade of Monopoly's famous properties and experience the day-to-day challenges of running a five-star hotel.

You'll need to deal with the Electric Company, build attractions, and eventually take charge of other properties to prove yourself a world-class Monopoly mogul.

This being a Hasbro tie-in, there's also celebrity guests to take care of, like Mr Potato Head. We'd recommend taking chips off the menu that night.

Stiff competition

Property management sims have been the subject of some contention recently, with Zynga's Dream Heights suffering a consumer backlash over its similarities to NimbleBit's Tiny Tower.

But, with a healthy series of positive App Store reviews, it looks like this freemium offering has done enough to distance itself from any unpleasant accusations.

Monopoly Hotels is available now on the App Store for free, and you can download it by hitting the button below.
