Apple's App Store is awash with clones of some of the world's most popular games, but it still doesn't house a decent alternative to Nintendo's extremely popular Pokemon games.

That could be about to change, however. Developer Moga has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund Micromon - a free-to-play Pokemon-esque iOS title.

If the game's developer manages to raise the required funds, Micromon will be released packing a "vast" explorable world that's filled with over 100 unique critters. Naturally, you can capture them all and use them in fast-paced turn-based battles.

The difference

Micromon isn't just a blatant rip-off of Ninty's colourful RPGs, mind, for it's chock-full of its own fresh features. For example, you can choose exactly where to begin and end your monster-catching journey, and level-up the game's protagonist to gain access to online leagues and events.

Furthermore, you won't have to constantly wade through random battles, which do become a pain in the backside after a while. You'll be able to tell when monsters are hiding in tall grass and other areas, so you can simply avoid them.

If you fancy supporting this title, simply head on over to Micromon's Kickstarter page and pledge some cash. An Android version of this title will also be released should the developer manage to amass $80,000.
