Gameloft teases new shoot-'em-up on Twitter

Gameloft tweeted a picture today (right) teasing what is almost certainly either a new shooter or a shooter that it's already announced.

How do we know it's a shooter? The picture is of some bullets.

The prolific studio has several potential candidates. These are the most likely in our opinion.

March of Heroes

This is the front-runner. Gameloft showcased March of Heroes - which will be its first of four titles built on the Unreal Engine - at E3 earlier this year. Despite its technical heritage it looks a lot like the studio's other military first-person shooters, but for 69p/99c it'll be well worth a pop.

Modern Combat 3

This is another strong possibility, as it's has been almost a year since the last MC game. Since Modern Combat takes most of its thematic, presentational, and gameplay cues from Activision's Call of Duty series, it's conceivable that it takes its scheduling cues from the same place.

Brothers in Arms

Brothers in Arms is Gameloft's third military FPS series. The two games released so far - Hour of Heroes and Global Front - haven't quite hit the heights of the Modern Warfare games in terms of quality, but they're both perfectly solid Bronze Award-winning soldier romps.

Others

Irritatingly, Gameloft is well supplied in terms of games where bullets feature prominently. Is there a new Tom Clancy game in the works? Is the sequel to 9mm going to be 12mm?

Gameloft isn't saying, so we'll have to wait and see.
