Having spent the past few months fighting against what seemed like a growing tidal wave of bad news, GAME Group, the largest specialist games retailer in the UK, has today filed for administration.

Responsible for both GAME and Gamestation - two familiar sights on the UK high street - GAME Group had been struggling to supply the newest releases.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the company will now have ten days 'moratorium' due to the voluntary administration. If no buyers can be found during this period, then it will formally enter administration.

The company had amassed an estimated £180 million worth of debts, of which £40 million is owed to suppliers.

GAME Group currently owns over 1,300 shops, and employs over 10,000 people worldwide (5,800 of which are based in the UK).
