Fitness specialist Active Theory Incorporated has just released iPhone and iPad title Fit Freeway: an innovative racing game that you control through exercise.

How does that work, then?

Well, simply place your iPhone or iPad on your exercise bike or elliptical trainer while you're working out and Apple's in-built accelerometer will read the vibrations caused by your vigorous activity and prompt your in-game vehicle to accelerate.

Your device's front-facing camera will perform "advanced head tracking", meaning you can simply turn your noggin from side to side to avoid cars and other obstacles, and to complete each of the game's eight stages. Pretty clever.

Be sure to check out the video below to see this unique iOS control scheme in action.

And if you're feeling up to a bit of exercise, you can grab Fit Freeway from the App Store as a Universal app for £1.99 / $2.99.
