TGS '11: Final Fantasy: Legends heading to iPhone and Android in 2012

This one almost sneaked past our gaze at the Tokyo Games Show - Final Fantasy: Legends, previously a Java mobile exclusive, is on its way over to iPhone and Android next year.

We don’t really have much to go on when it comes to details (other than this photo taken at the event by Dengeki), but if it follows the Java game, then expect a new story and gameplay based around the early 16-bit era RPG mechanics.

No adaptable skill sphere progression here, just good old fashioned grinding.

Starts with a single step

Legends was originally released in Japan in chapters, so this could be a prime time for Square Enix to experiment with doing the same on the App Store and Android Market. We wouldn’t hold our breath, mind.

Final Fantasy: Legends will be out on iPhone and Android in 2012.

No telling on whether it'll hit Europe and the US along with Japan, but we're 'reaching out' to Square Enix to find out.
