Purveyor of fine bullet-hell experiences Cave has built a reputation on making extremely faithful mobile ports of its reaction-testing arcade shmups.

However, the latest update to DoDonPachi Resurrection and Espgaluda II brings a previously unseen level of authenticity to these iOS translations, allowing players to toggle framerate slowdown on and off.

While developers usually do everything they can to eliminate things like slowdown, some Cave fans believe that this performance issue is an integral part of the arcade experience, one that directly affects a player's high-scoring potential.

Cave evidently agrees, and has provided purists with a toggle switch capable of replicating the slowdown present in the original arcade versions, making the most frenetic sections of the two shooters a shade easier to navigate.

The update is compatible with both the SD and HD versions of DoDonPachi Resurrection and Espgaluda II, and can be downloaded from today.
