Demonstrating the power of going cross platform, as well as focusing on free downloads for Android Market (backed by paid versions on other platforms), two-man developer Yobonja has a hit on its hands.

Its physics-focused 'monkey shoot and collect bananas' game Blast Monkeys is providing popular on iPhone, Android and Barnes & Noble's Android-based Nook Color e-reader.

Rising high

It took the game four months to reach its first million downloads, but it's gained its second million in four weeks.

So next up comes an update, including 30 levels set in the Water World. This brings the total number of levels to more than 120, with new examples released each week via the new feed.

Blast Monkeys is free on Android, 99c, €0.79 or 59p on iOS, or get the Lite version [iTunes link].
