Apple has published its Q3 2012 financial results, and - predictably - it's looking very rosy for the Cupertino tech giant.

The Big A sold 26 million iPhones (a 28 per cent increase over the year-ago quarter) and a record-breaking 17 million iPads (a whopping 86 per cent increase over the year-ago quarter) during the past quarter, which ended on June 30th.

The only Apple portable product that didn't see a gain of any kind was the iPod, whose 6.8 million sales represented a 10 per cent unit decline over the year-ago quarter.

In total, the Mac manufacturer posted a cool $35 billion in revenue, resulting in net profit of $8.8 billion. If you're struggling to visualise that much money, imagine the whole world covered in $100 bills (probably).

Apple CEO Tim Cook was naturally upbeat about his firm's financial results, saying that the company was "thrilled with record sales of 17 million iPads in the June quarter".
