15 new levels, power-ups, and Retina display support for iPad 3 on the way

Rovio can't seem to leave the original Angry Birds game alone, despite it being over two and a half years old now (and spawning quite a few sequels, too).

This latest update to the original game is a fairly meaty one: it contains 15 new beach-based levels as well as four new power-ups taken from the Facebook version to help out those still trying to three-star every stage.

They also work the same way as the Facebook version, so while you do get some for free, you'll have to pop down cash for any more.

I can see clearly now

Confusingly, in this update to the iPhone version of the game, there's mention of support for the new iPad's Retina display. This is confusing because it's not a Universal app, and the HD version hasn't, apparently, been updated yet.

Given that the HD version tends to get updated a little later than the iPhone one, however, we suspect this is just a case of a rogue line in the description.

The Android version of Angry Birds has yet to receive the update, by the way, but we'd expect it to be issued pretty soon.
