It's a strange thing when something made in one country proves a hundred times more popular in another country. Which seem to be what has happened with Mr Bean.

I know this a) because the film Mr Bean's Holiday reached the number one slot in 28 countries last year and I don't know anyone who watched it. And b) because from my current geological location of Western Asia, many people I have met have followed up the question "where are you from?" with the comment: "We love your Mr Bean."

Rather that than our ability to binge drink.

Anyway, Blast Entertainment has today made a Mr Bean-related announcement which should please any fan of the slap-stick king. Which is that the game Mr Bean on DS is now available in the shops.

It's a bit of a confusing announcement, because last time we heard about the game it was due to be released last November. But we're assuming it slipped and no one in the UK actually noticed - although it probably caused mass disappointment in Israel and Egypt if my conversations with people are anything to go by.

Mr Bean has been designed for younger gamers and features 12 levels in total. These range from puzzle levels to ones with traps to avoid. You'll be getting up to all sorts as the hapless Bean, including dressing as a pirate in a mission to save a teddy bear and battling baddies with frying pans.

Blast has also announced the DS game will be followed by a Wii one later in the year. Lucky us eh?
