Mr Bean bumbles onto DS

Good news if you like your game characters weedy and more than a little weird

Here we were thinking Mr Bean hadn't been popular for about ten years, except for perhaps in some parts of Europe and with some dads who'd also put 'Allo 'Allo! up there as their favourite comedy programme of all time.

But it turns out Mr Bean is still hot property, hence the reason we're getting a DS game based on his adventures. A PS2 game was announced earlier this year but news of its journey to DS has only just emerged.

The game is a platform adventure encompassing puzzles and exploration, also with two-player mini-games. Its story begins with Mr Bean preparing for a special day with his girlfriend Irma Gobb, and then discovering Teddy has gone missing. This prompts Mr Bean to navigate levels full of danger in order to get him back.

According to the game's maker, Blast! Entertainment (which has made shelf-fulls of kids games – from Babe to Home Alone), 92 per cent of children under 11 are great Mr Bean fans.

We would have gone with Grand Theft Auto and Skins nowadays, but we're happy to be corrected. Besides, at least this should ensure some success for the game when it's released this Friday (November 23rd).
