Motorola Xoom priced at £450 by PC World - then pulled

PC World stormed out of the gates earlier today and slapped a price of £450 onto the 3G-less Motorola Xoom Android tablet.

This is in line with earlier rumours that the dual-core device would retail for the equivalent of $700, which xe.com reliably tells me translates as £430 at the current exchange rate.

However, the retailer has since pulled all evidence of the pre-order page from its site, which either suggests the timing was wrong (“I said ‘Thursday’, not bleeding ‘Tuesday’ you buffoon!”) or that the price was wrong (“I said gouge their wallets, not sell it at a competitive rate, you buffoon!”).

Would a Xoom for £450 tempt you away from an iPad 2? We’d love to hear comments from real human beings (that’s ‘real human beings’ for the hard-of-hearing spambots), in the comments thread below.
